Additional Here I Stand Information

2008 album from the R&B superstar. Here I Stand is Usher's follow-up to his history-making, nine-times platinum-selling Confessions. The album tells the story of growth: triumphant, reflective, somewhat defiant and it marks a new period in Usher's life and creative expression. Here I Stand finds Usher working with some of the best producers and writers around including Polow Da Don, Jermaine Dupre, Dre & Vidal and Dream & Tricky Stewart. Features the first single 'Love In The Club'. Laface.

What Customers Say About Here I Stand:

It's within the album tracks, what some might call "filler" that the best moments of this album reveal themselves to me. One of the best songs here not only musically but in this same lyrical concept is "His Mistakes" where Usher assures a lady that he loves her and not to place him in the same catagory as her unfaithful ex because of her past resentment. Now I realize that Usher is having to compete in an R&B world that's heavily populated with a lot of people mining the exact same style to get onto the Top 10 but by this time it's growing a little tired frankly. Considering not only his lack of ability to create a consistantly well flowing album but his becomming a father this album actually finds Usher in a very good musical place following his hugely successful Confessions. This album has enough strong moments to indicate a positive musical future for Usher. Because of the strong edge to his lyrical attack he doesn't come off at all as emmasculated and somewhat wimpy the way a lot of male R&B stars have become when tackling the same subject matter.

Interestingly enough this entire album focuses on the subject of Usher wanting to be a good family man and not give into the temptations around him.

"This Ain't Sex" is a really strong disco-funk jam that is married to strong writing, really strong singing and a great direction for Usher.

"Lifetime" is not only sensual and sensative but Usher provides it with a beautifully and somewhat darkly chorded sound that only does the best for what the song is trying to say.

There are a number of songs that have this contemporary hip-hop/R&B epic kind of sound that's a little overdone in his case and of course that provided him with the single "Love In This Club".

It showcases that blend of sensitivity and self assuradness that is a necessity with both partners in any romantic coupling.

"What's Your Name" with Will I AM provides a heavier electro dance flavor again in keeping with a good direction musically.

"Something Special" has this kind of hooky soulful shuffle to it and strong midtempo rhythm.

The closing title is an equally passionate ballad again with a great mix of intensity, passion and heart.

So even if some of it's more contemporary elements that made it a hit aren't it's strongest to me there's more than enough to please pretty much any kind of R&B fan here.

I love Confessions as well. Usher is the bomb. I love this album. This is one of his best albums. I'm glad Usher decided to share this piece of work with us. I love Usher.

Everyone must have this album. This album is a masterpiece. He did it again with this album. You can follow his life throughout this album. You can tell the type of dedication this man put into his work. It really has meaningful songs on it that's great for couples and love making sessions.

He truly is one heck of a man.

This is by the wrose album he has put out.the tracks don't fit the artist in any size or shape. It's like Usher has aged 40 years to an old man on this album.not voally but the sound of music and lyric wise.a waste of time to even listen to snippets of the songs

***8 - Love In The Club (Duet). ****6 - His Mistakes.

Neyo, J Dupre, Will-I-am and do i need to say 'mo.I also like duets that can tell you if that artist is creative or not. One thing i like 'mo 'bout my collection is a different production and with this album i got that Feeling that's fo'sho.

****5 - Before I Met You. This album does wonder's once again.Personal favourite's are.1 - Trading Places.2 - Movimg Mountain.3 - Love You Gently.

****Surely i gave you 'mo than one reason why this is a must collect album.Mokgabudi J

I am a huge Usher fan but couldn't really vibe with this album.my favorite song is "Trading Places" because it takes me back to the Usher who did "Confessions" I don't know if it is the distraction of a new marriage that the public didn't embrace or what but I couldn't play this album all the way thru like I could with his previous blockbuster. I am anticipating the release of his new album now that he has become divorced so we shall see what he comes up with.
